X.Y, June 10, 1929, TO THE MEMBER3 OF THE LEM) INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION* Beginning with the current issue, the scope of the Domestic Pig Lead Seles Report has Been greatly enlarged to include data summarizing the pig lead aalen records, data differentiating between new and all other business of reporting members, and data classifying the grades of pig lead sold. Ao heretofore, the report gives a statistical picture of all the pig lead, doasestie or foreign in ori gin, marketed by reporting members in the United States. With the exception of the changes noted below, the basis of reporting sales remains as previously outlined, (Ses report of Jan. 18, 1929). Page 1. of the report shows a monthly summary of the 'Sales Reported During Month Indicated" and gives average dally sales. I Page 2. shows a monthly summary of "Sales Mads i for Shipment in Month Indicated" and gives dally averages. Page 3. chows the total weekly sales of reporting 4 members distinguishing as sharply as possible between new business of members and sales made under old or existing arrangements with {xirchasers. For this purpose the sales tabulation has been divided into two columns, "Market" and "All Other" Sales respectively. In the "Market" column all strictly new business is reported, that, is, sales mads - during the week at market prices, or even on an average price basis provided the business is new, i.e., pieced without previous commitment, either actual or moral. Such an average-price sale is only reported aa new or "market" business for a period extending to the end of the month following the current month.. Tonnages sold on such a type of contract for shipment still further ahead are reported under the "All Other" ooluan. ~-v ^r- r i LI A21538 S- The "All Other* eolumn 1 designed to include all those sales which are Bade on average-price contracts running on a yearly basis, or upon some other constant or protracted period. This column also includes that tonnage of lead which moves forward week to week from certain smelting plants to affiliated fabricating establishments and is not sold on the open market. Page 4. classifies the total amount of pig lead sold each week according to grades. This classification is self-explanatory and is based upon the standard speci fications of the American Society for Testing Uaterials. The member companies contributing data to the Do mestic Pig Lead Sales Report are as follows? American Metal Co. Ltd. American Smelting & Refining Co. Bunker Rill and Sullivan Mining and concentrating Co. Eagle-Picber Lead Co. National Lead Co. St. Joseph Lead Co. United Uetads Selling Co. United States Smelting Refining & Mining Co.
