Delahant In a conversation with Mr. William Hazard of the Illinois-Owens Glass Co. during the recent Symposium the following data came to light: 1. The Illinois-Ov/ens Glass Co. has received no report of the progress of the Kaylo experiments being conducted by The Saranac Laboratory since last February 1947. . 2. Mr. Hazard was pleased to learn that this experimental investigation is continuing. 3. It is his belief that Ms company is willing to continue support of this work to its final conclusion 4. The company would appreciate suggestions along what lines this further program of investigation should follow, if any be necessary. 5. Upon introduction of the subject by Mr. Hazard, the status >f the financial support of this project was briefly dijcussed. He Iclaimed that little information on this subject was available in [the company files and suggested that a clarification of the fin ancial arrangements be made by The Saranac Laboratory to the Owens- Illinois Glass Co. Fa: tors which might be of interest regarding a future program: Since tuberculous infection plus dust inhaL ation appears to be of prime importance in these studies and since our results have not been entirely conclusive, it might be developed thus: 1. Repeat of the El plus dust simultaneously 2. Repeat of R1 Reactivation 3. Introduce series which would superimpose tuberculous infection by inhalation on tissue already exposed to various periods of dust. 4. Explore the biological activity of hydrous calcium silicate (Particle Size might present some difficulties - in which case it might be.possible to turn to the intratracheal injections.)
