O CHECKED DATE Id ~/7~ >S~~ SQMM.UY Conducted an update asbestos survey for the second half of 1975 at Cell ' Service and the old Chlor-Alkali I area, which is used for building and repairing chlorine cells. <jO ( Results were favorable, ar.d well within OSHA's standard of S fibers greater than S microns in length per cubic centimeter and Dow's standard of 2 fibers per cubic centimeter. (The OSHA standard will be lowered to 2 fibers per cubic centimeter in 1976.) Survey findings ranged from .29 fibers per cubic centimeter in the drawing area, while an operator was drawing M-82 cathodes, to a low of .02 fibers par cubic centimeter in the electrician's workbench area which is adjacent to and above the drawing ares. Asbestos rope and paper have been replaced in the cell production, thus eliminating two sources of asbestos exposure.
