We would like to have you produce enough of this product (truckload if necessary) to furnish customers requesting the asbestos free product. The tests uere look very encouraging. In view of the pinch on the asbestos and bori acid problems, we need to make some rapid progress. I plan to be in Akron on Monday, November 24 and would like to be able to see some of this material used in the field. All of these changes, plus others, are undoubtedly making it difficult for you to inventory raw materials. We can discuss this at length when I am in Akron. The situation isn't ouch better to ship asbestos free material to Akron from Marietta, and our past experience doing this has not been good. Tie are currently involved in trying to promote the asbestos free Ready-Mix from Akron, and there is no doubt about the fact that asbestos will have to come out of all our products in the near future. Recognizing this, George, I believe we would be better off to continue as we are presently doing with the asbestos free Ready-Mix and continue working on asbestos free bag goods^ formulas for the Akron plant. We are be lefiting from various manufacturers' attempts to get asbestos free ready mix into the market. Eventually the others will probably find a way to make it and have it acceptable but the damage will have already been done and they'll have no business. Let's keep this in mind when we come to ours and not market an asbestos free type from Acme until and unless it is such that the working qualities are so similar to our current production that a user can't tell the difference. This way we won't suffer the loss of business the other mfgrs are going thru now.
