Dear Dr. Sayers; I understand from the attorneys for the Standard Oil Company in South Carolina that you have been interviewed on several occasions with regard to the significance of occupational exposure to Kthyl gasoline, and specificall^ir^^dab^n to a ca3e of alleged eye Injury to one of Bennetts* villa. South Carolina. On going through my file some tine ago I found I had no record of this case and I assume that in all likelihood no record of it was transmitted to you. I am nob sure this was the case. It seems that quite 3oma time ago the file went through my hands and was returned to Hew York without being copied. This was probably because I regarded the com plaint as too trifling to merit any further Investigation. In any case there was a slip-up on my part, I believe, in not transmitting to you any report on the case. I do not consider it worth either your while or mine to supply you with a complete transcript of the logal and other Infor mation on the case, but I shall be glad to supply you with any further Information which you may wish if the appended dotation should in any way be unsatisfactory for your purposes. I have just returned from Bennotts- ville where his case went bo court, I was bold while there that a number of cases were pending and would be influenced in very large measure by the outcome of this case. I have knowledge of only one such case and I am sending you such information a3 I have on it also. In view of the apparent insignificance of the matter, I do not consider It worth whllfc to make further investigation. Complaints of Injury from other parte of the country have been very few and far between during recent months. I am sending along to you heeewith notations on all which have come to my attention since I last reported to you.
