Dear Dr. Kehoe, When Mr. Tully was in England in the early part of this year he raised a point with us concerning the medical supervision of the blending plants in Tasmania. Dr. Fairley had been in the habit of undertaking this trip but in recent times he found that it imposed considerable inconvenience on him as it entailed him being away from his practice for too great a length of time. Mr. Tully suggested that it would be advantageous for a separate medical consultant to be appointed to carry out this work for this State, and Mr. Bevan was fully in agreement with the proposal to relieve Dr. Fairley of this particular trip. Mr. Tully has now advised me that Dr. Fairley recently paid a visit to Tasmania and he recommended the appointment of a doctor to carry out the work as suggested. In view of the fpct that Dr. Fairley has just examined the men at the C.O.R. plant at Hobart, it will be unnecessary for Dr. Whishaw to assume any responsibilities until next year; therefore, providing it is satisfactory with you, we might start him off as at January 1st, 1940, Dr. Ralph Whishaw, 174, Macquarie Street, Hobart, Tasmania, acquired his M.B., Ch.M. at Sydney university 1918, M.R.C.P. (Lond.) 1935 and F.R.A.C.P. 1938,, Dr. Whishaw is Honorary Physician to the Royal Hobart Hospital, Consulting Physician to the Repatriation Hospital, Hobart.
