Kdir/,1 er / File During this report period, initial shipments of Wacker 225 type PVC (Y-68-M) were received at Burlington Compound Plant, Samples submitted to resin Quality Control on each shipment were tested for relative viscosity, contam ination and oversize. Relative viscosity, contamination and oversize results have been quite con sistent and within our specifications on all shipments but one. One load received on 12/19 was found to have large oversize, which was subsequently traced to a transfer unit at Bergen-Norfolk and not the Wacker resin itself. Also during this report period, initial shipments of P-70 (1730 type) disper sion resin were received and evaluated. Other lots of P-70 type are currently being stored in Security Warehouse. Samples from these lots are being taken and will be forwarded to Pjurlington Quality Control for testing. During this report period, several safety items were brought up for correction in the laboratory area. The electrical conduit running across the mill room floor is to be removed. A job ticket lias been written for this item and it is awaiting action by the Maintenance Department. The DOP reservoir can in the constant temperature room, which was previously pressurized to speed up flow, has been changed to a gravity feed system while a suitable container for pressurization is being sought. A review of the smoking areas in the labora tory is pending. Also during this period, all laboratory technicians, and the writer attended a safety meeting on lift truck operation, which will lead to all technicians being licensed operators in accordance with new federal regulations. Several competitive resin evaluations and Process Engineering special tests are currently backlogged due to the workload of Wacker resins received. These Wacker resins have taken priority over other special testing. Leaf filtrations are being run on some 0565 latex batches to assist Production in evaluating their 0565 runs.
