Following discussions between our respective attorneys November 10, 1972, the letter of November 10 you presented to us has been discussed with the management of Monsanto IndustriaX_Chem.ica.lsL..Company operating unit of Monsanto and with corporate Monsanto management. We appreciate, in summarizing damages allegedly due from Monsanto based on PCB contamination of fishmeal, that it was not possible to explain in detail the factual back ground you feel entitles you to reimbursement from Monsanto, and that background information concerning your alleged damages could not be set forth in your letter. Based on the limited facts available to us, the only response we can make at this time is that we have not been presented with sufficient information in our discussions and by your letter to conclude that Monsanto has any liability to Ralston Purina for the damages you assert. We are, however, willing to discuss the matter further, should you desire to do so, to see if a better understanding on our part of the facts on which you rely might change our present position.
