Lehmkuhl's letter of January 25, 1980 concerning the CONOCO - "Win With Safety" Program, I recommend we use appropriate parts of the program to supplement efforts aimed at increasing our employee's safety awareness. As I am sure you are aware, sports generate quite a bit of interest among VCM Plant employees. To relate safety to professional sports such as football, basketball and baseball should generate interest among employees. It will also demonstrate the importance of teamwork, strategy, planning and personnel protective equipment to both the industrial plant and professional sports. The CONOCO - "Win With Safety" Program will enhance our 1980 safety effort. A program such as this by itself can't be expected to produce dramatic results in safety performance. If this program is used to gain the attention and enthusiasm of the employees for safety it will be a worthwhile endeavor. I suggest we use the parts, suited best for us, to promote and advertise our safety effort. This will require ordering banners, posters, hard hat stickers etc. that will be necessary. The CONOCO - "Win With Safety" Program can be a useful addition to our 1980 safety effort. r CCR 0000667A5
