Speer of the Medical Department of subject company contacted this office today desiring information on the composition of lydraul 150. A worker at their plant had some drip in his eye and was treated with the suggested eye washes (water and then 1% pontocaine solution and opthalmic cortisone acetate solution). Dr. Speer did indicated that this worked" - did have con siderable pain and inflamation of the eye lids and was anxious to know how to further treat the patient. He felt they should know the general chemical make-up of this fluid for proper treatment. I explained that all the Pydraul, except A-200, are phosphate ester based fluids containing varying amounts of chlorinated hydrocarbons. He specifically asked if TCP was present, and if there were also amines present in the form of additives ( i.e. VI improvers, rust inhibitors, etc). He was particularly concerned about the absorption of TCP type materials through the skin and also what should be done if the Pydrauls were orally Ingested.
