Dear Sir: In re: Chattanooga, Tennessee, On February 13, 1936, you addressed a letter to Mr. A. E. Mlttnacht, Ethyl Gasoline- Corporation, New York City, wherein you advised that on that date Mr. B. W. Hargraves, counsel for M r . v i s i t e d your laboratory, requesting information on your experience with poisoning from leaded gasoline. At that time Mr. Hargraves indicated to you that it was his desire to have you examine his client. On May 16, 1934, Dr. L. J. Schraden of Kittering Laboratories, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio, visited Chattanooga with the writer, it being Dr. Schraden*s purpose there to examine Mr. but he wa^unable to <3o so because of the ^ c ^ L h a t Mr. was then in Hot Springs, Arkansas, undergoingorea However, Dr. Schraden did discuss Mr condition with Dr. Revlngton, it having been Dr. Revlngton*s original diagnosis that! was suffering from lead poisoning. This case has been permitted to lay dormant through the years, and is now set for trial at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on February 22, 1939. In this connection, we are extremely hopeful that we will be able to keep It from the jury on a question of law and not of facts, but If we are unsuccessful from that angle, it will be necessary that we present expert testimony:on the question of tetra ethyl lead poisoning. I would appreciate it, therefore, if you would advise me by wire collect whether or not we can have available at Chattanooga on February 21st someone from your laboratory who could give expert testimony on this subject. It would be preferable, and I think extremely so, that this person should be Dr. Schraden In as much as he talked with Dr. Revington and has some knowledge of this case by reason of that personal contact.
