Manila gum is used in an alcohol solution as a clear water resis tance label varnish. As an ammonia solution in water it is used in floor waxes to give added gloss and impart non-slip to the film and to cut costs.
3220 - 3239
Shellac is used in an alcohol solution as a primer and sealer for wood, laying on the surface and providing good sanding properties. It is also used along with Pontianak as a sealer of oil and grease on floors of box cars and in some nitrocellulose formulas as a hardener.

Many of the softer miscellaneous resins are used as glues, dopes, cements, etc., where their stiokiness and water resistance are of value.
3260 - 3269 Water soluble gums are used as bodying agents for water, and for water soluble glues and pastes.
3270 - 3279 Gums, starch, glucose, etc. are used as a bodying agent for water, and for water removable film formers.
