North American Asbestos Corp. was the sole supplier of amosite and by far the major supplier of crocidolite asbestos to users in the United States for many years. North American was a wholly owned subsidiary of Cape Asbestos in England. Cape, in turn, owned and controlled the amosite and crocidolite mines in South Africa through other subsidiaries. Enclosed are shipping records from North American showing that Durez received a good deal of the crocidolite it used from North American, rather than other potential sources such as the government.
