Moore Black Products Co. manufactures valve bag packers and accessories of which their Crimp-A-Seal bag sealing machine was the subject of this visit. This machine, which is about three feet wide and nine feet long mounted directly in line with the bag packer, will heat seal and tuck in the standard tuck-in sleeve of a paper bag. The bag is tilted back off the filling spout, retracted about three feet to a device which folds the sleeve, seals it, and tucks it into the pocket. The bag is then dropped onto a conveyor. The tuck-in sleeve is a standard bag construction except for the Surlyn film lining for heat seal. Three grades of asbestos were tested: Grade Bags from King City wt. size Packed for Crimo-A-Seal wt. size RG-244 HPO SG-100-Ex 10 27x18x7 11.5 25-1/2x17-1/2x8 35 31 same 50 27-1/2x18-1/2x6-1/2 96 same The machine handled all three grades and made a good sleeve seal even with a small amount of dust inside. It did not seal when the sleeve was partly filled with fines. The machine was well made and provided for much adjustment for speed, stroke, positioning, and timing of all seal functions. No additional time or labor is required. Some rearrangement would be required at the bag flattener and the feed to the auger packer. Black Products will quote on two fully automatic machines with a return conveyor for the main line baggers and one semiautomatic sealer for the RG-244 line. UCC 009.1.27 They will make a simple layout sketch based on prints of our equipment arrangement which were furnished to them.
