DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION: Memo from Einar Juel & Co. to Turner Bros. Asbestos Co. Ltd. RE Asbestos Hazards, Pg. 3
It was mentioned to Mr. Grut that in case he would
b< interested in a further discussion with Dr. oimes, e had no doubt Dr. Holmes wpuld be pleased to com
over at any time.
Mr. Pers is, of course, very worried and the more so because spray is his main business. Dr. Holmes explained to Mr. Pers in general terms the present opinion about asbestos.
Dr. Holmes also kindly promised to send through us various leaflets and printed matters to the gentlemen we met during this visit.
It is, of course, very difficult to give formal opinion of what is now likely to happen. Our impre--. is that the Elsinore Shipyard will exclude asbestos from their specifications wherever possible (they have invented a special method to allow the handling of incombustible sheets), whereas we feel that the other shipyards are taking it much more calmly.
On the other hand we have no doubt that the author!
represented by Mr. Grut -- are aware of the matter ana
c
that they intend to issue some regulations, maybe
in the not too distant future.lt would be very interest
ing if we could probably arrange for another meeting
between Dr. Holmes and Dr. Grut before the regulations
will be made out and issued. We suggest that Dr. Holmes
try to find out whether this can be arranged and
whether it will serve a purpose, when he meets Dr. Grut
in Dresden.
Again we were very pleased to have the visit of Dr. Holmes and we hope the' above report, apart from the details, will cover the main impression and outcome of the meetings which we arranged during
his stay.
