RYAN MACKENZIE 7n DISTRICT, PENNSYLVANIA Congrait of tbe linitett 6tatco li)ouSe of AtprefSIltatibt4 Ulafibington, 33et 20515-3807 121 CANNON HOUSE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON, DC 20515-3807 (202) 226-6411 February 6, 2025 The Honorable Sean Duffy Secretary United States Department of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Avenue, Southeast Washington, DC 20590 Dear Secretary Duffy, Congratulations on your confirmation. We were all saddened to see the recent aviation tragedies, and I wish you all the best in your new role to oversee and improve our country's transportation systems. At this time, I am writing to express my support for the City of Bethlehem, PA's project, "Broad Street Safe Streets Implementation Grant." The City of Bethlehem received notice of having been selected for an award of $9,939,191 in December 2023. Unfortunately, a great deal of time elapsed due to the burdensome grant agreement process between the City of Bethlehem and the Department of Transportation under the Biden Administration. During this time, the necessary safety improvements desired for this stretch of road were left undone, leaving our community and our citizens less safe. After nearly 13 months of back-and-forth, on January 17, 2025, the City of Bethlehem sent their finalized grant agreement to the Washington DC headquarters of the Federal Highway Administration. The Broad Street Safe Streets Implementation Grant project would take important steps to reduce traffic on West Broad Street by funding curb extensions, protected bike lanes, and high-visibility crosswalks. These measures would improve my constituents' safety, including the students who attend the seven schools located near Broad Street. For these reasons, I support funding the Broad Street Safe Streets Implementation Grant project and I would appreciate any efforts by you and the Trump Administration to expedite this funding. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. Best regards, Ryan Mackenzie Member of Congress OPSRITN-T2E0D2O5N-1R2E0CY0CPLEaDgPeA0PE0R087 Sierra Club v.
