The Biologic Effects of Trace Substances Associated with Chrysotile Asbestos Purpgsf To obtain factual information concerning the biological effects of asbestos, glass and other materials* This information will be used to refute erroneous and misleading statements which are being made concerning the health hazards associated with the uae of asbestos and related fibrous materials. A research laboratory program is proposed to study the biologic effects of asbestos fibers, fibrous glass and related fibrous material*. Bub- stances to be investigated will include naturally-occurring chryaotils, amosite, crocidolite asbestos fibers, synthetic chrysotile, fibrocs glass, asbestos fibers known to cause cancer in animals, as well as trace elements on the surface of asbestos which may cause cancer.
