- Ref. Ares(2022)1065748 -14/02/2022 Meeting with EPEE on U- PFAS and Essential Uses 11 February 2022, Microsoft Teams Participants EPEE - European Partnership for Energy and the Environment:-- Arkema: __, Daikin Europe : , European Fluorocarbons Technical Committee at Cefic Sector Group-- DG GROW:---- EPEE, representing the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump industry in Europe, has asked DG GROW/Fl for a meeting to be informed on the future PFAS REACH restriction proposal by 5 MSs (the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Denmark)-- On the future PFAS restriction, EPEE argued that the broad assessment of PFAS as a wide group of substances would be extremely complex. They highlighted that it would be important to consider the interface to the "F-gases Regulation" which is to be amended as well. EPEE wanted to be informed on the restriction procedure. In particular, they asked about COM's and ECHA's involvement at this stage of the process. They regretted that so far NO (in the l ead for F-Gases) had not been very open to discussing the planned restriction. They asked at which stages they could give information for the Risk Assessment as well as the Socio-Economic assessment of the part of the restriction related the HFC's. COM clarified that it expects that the regulatory measures on PFAS will be based on the current legal framework, not on the future provisions on ESU. At this stage, the restriction proposal is in the hands of the five proposing Member States, and COM is only superficially involved.
