The a p p a ra tu s sh o u ld c o n s is t o f a f a i r l y la rg e cham ber, say o f about a cubic fo o t in volum e, con ta in in g a shallow v e sse l fo r th e te s t liq u id , in th e bottom . A ir should be introduced so as to sim ulate n a tu ra l conditions o f v e n tila tio n , w ith s u it a b le s h ie ld in g o f th e liq u id from d ir e c t a i r c u r r e n ts . The a i r is m ost c o n v e n ie n tly m etered on th e in p u t s id e and p a sse d th ro u g h a co ld tr a p on th e o u tp u t s id e , i n o rd er to p ro v id e a co n v en ien t method fo r m easuring th e fu e l vap o rized . For both pure l i q u i d s , two te m p e ra tu re s, 0 and dO^C., a re su g g ested f o r th e p re lim in a ry in v e s tig a tio n ; a ls o th r e e a i r r a te s , corresp o n d in g to p o o r, av erag e, and very good v e n tila tio n p r a c tic e . Probably th e most im portant fa c to r w ill be th e d esig n o f the chamber, so se v e ra l ty p es o f b a fflin g should be t r i e d .
