Carol Isaacs JP is the Director of the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team fMPART),
Ms. Isaacs has recently retired after serving as the Chief Deputy Attorney General for the past two Michigan's Attorney Generals and was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the National Association of Attorneys Generals. She was appointed as the MPART Director on Nov. 13, 2017 by Governor Snyder through an Executive Directive. She has more than 25 years of experience in both the Legislative and Executive branches of Michigan government. She has served as legal counsel and advisor to the Michigan Senate and in the executive branch as advisor to the Governor and the Senior Deputy of Legal Affairs and Policy Development within the largest state department. While in the legislative and executive branches she was responsible for developing legislation and policy that had major social and economic consequences for the People of Michigan. Ms. Isaacs has received numerous recognitions over her career as a public servant.
Heidi Grether is the Director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality {MDEQ}. She was appointed as the Director by Governor Rick Snyder effective August 1, 2016. She leads Michigan's environmental regulatory body, which has federal delegated authority for a broad array of environmental programs, as well as state-specific authorities. Grether oversees an annual budget of just over$500,000,000, and 1100 staff in 10 locations around the state. The MDEQ issues approximately 9000 environmental permits each year. Her previous position was Deputy Director of the Michigan Agency for Energy. She came to this role June 2015, after a significant public and private sector career. Grether returned to state government after nearly 20 years with Amoco and BP, including four years working the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, where she was the General Manager for external affairs for BP's Gulf Coast Restoration Organization, responsible for managing all aspects of external affairs post-spill across the Gulf states. She also served as the General Manager for the state of Mississippi external affairs and the Director of Public and Government Affairs for BP in the Midwest.
Kory Groefsch Is the MDHHS Director of the Division of Environmental Health. His 20 year career in environmental public health toxicology is a combination of 14 years with MDHHS as a toxicologist and six years with the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission. He is the principle investigator on Michigan's Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) cooperative agreement. He possesses a M.S. from Miami University where he studied environmental toxicology. He has conducted numerous presentations at regional and national conferences, as well as authoring a range of government publications.
