Coeur has been a longtime AEMA member and they have asked me to extend their appreciation to you and Administrator Pruitt for the time. Also, I will be in DC the week of March 12 and would appreciate anytime you may have for me to come over and visit to update you on some of the more recent AEMA activities in the mining sector. The Administrator was excited about the prospect of industry assisting in clean up of abandon sites and he wants to better understand the road blocks keeping this from happening. I will be in Region 10 once every two months, so there should be opportunity to get together. Thanks, Ken Kenneth E. I would like to keep talking. When you are in Seattle and have time it is an easy hop for me to come over. I have a long history in Reg X and would like to help the administration deliver some solutions. -------From: O"Wrigaignnaelrm, Keesnsnaegteh-"---<--w--a-gner.keeneth@epa.gov> DTCoac::teMp:h3ai/tl2ht 1@E/l1lss7twra5ot:er4gt1hjeP<sM3e6ll0(sG.wcoMomrtTh-@05.m:0l0n)ingamerica.org> Subject: contact @ EPA Matthew: I enjoyed meeting with you, Phil and Don today at EPA. It was informative to hear about the top issues affecting the hard rock miners. I was particularly interested in our discussion concerning the issues surrounding industry's desire to clean up neighboring abandoned mine sites as well as the frustration about being unable to participate because of potential permanent and ongoing liability attaching to any party who participates in the clean-up. I would like more information about how a "Good Sam" provision could possibly result in a winning situation for both the affected community as well as the industry participants. Thank you for bringing this to my attention today. Any information that you can pass along for my edification would be appreciated. Kenneth E.
