The meeting was called to order by Mr. Bette, Chairman, at 9?00 A.K. MIMUTES OF previous MSETXM5 The Chairman announced that the minutes of the previous.meetings held on June 17th and 18th 196* had been distributed and unless there was a request for their be ing read or any corrections or additions to be made thereto, a motion for their acceptance would be entertained. Upon notion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, it urns RE30UTED: That Che minutes of the nettings held on June 17th and 18th 1964 be accepted as distributed. REPORT OF THE PRESIDE The meeting was advised Chat Mr. Smith, because of Illness, was unable Co be present. In his absence, the Secretary read the following statement. "In ail of the years that I have been associated with the Institute, this is the first time that 1 have found it necessary to absent myself frears e meeting and only because the doctor refuses me permission to make the trip. I had looked for ward to being with you and enjoy the various recreational facilities, one of which is a bit unusual. So, my report will have to be read in my absence. "It is useless for me to comment on the activities of the various committees because they are self-functioning groups with specific duties to perform and their reports will be more enlightening than any explanation which l may make. These Chairmen are selected for not only their ability but also for their industry. "As to the Institute Office, it has been functioning at top speed for the past two years with seldom, if ever, a break. More frequent comlttee meetings have added to the work and especially since January, when the large edition of the data book had to be prepared. Because many of the vehicle and brake manufacturers started projects early this year, specifications were not received as promptly as usual thereby delay-, mg the preparation of bulletins and, directly, the completion of the data book. In -addition, the many changes in lining thicknesses, ai weU..as Oengtha,.xonatJ^utads problem and added to the delay since prints had to be secured before assignments could be made and complete specifIcetions released. However, despite these obstacle% the Secretary was able to send copy to the printer only two (2) weeks later than usual. The printer advised that the book would be completed in time for shipment to be made the latter part of June.
