HM \kk Modification Program
Last week the last car was released from the North American Rail Car Shop in Texarkana following completion of HM lA1* modification. This con cludes the retrofit program for \3k CONX cars.

Southern Pacific Strike
Some 2,300 Southern Pacific Railroad engineers have returned to work after a brief strike in protest to a new test given to determine the alco hol content of their blood. The strike affected 20,000 employees in seven Western states west of El Paso. Gulf coast operations of the Southern Pacific were not affected.

Safety
The Bloomfield, New Mexico terminal sustained a lost-time occupational injury on Saturday, Septmeber 20, 1980. Jerry Hoilandsworth. Transport Driver, developed lower back and leg pain while changing transport tires at the terminal shop. The individual underwent hospital evaluation on Wednesday, September 21*; and it is estimated that hospital confinement will last seven to ten days.
