Willis began his career in the auto parts business in 1935, working in a NAPA jobbing store. He joined Bal kamp in 1945 as a purchasing agent. The award was presented at the NAPA Annual Meeting held in Dallas, Texas. Balkamp, Inc. The "Spirit of NAPA" Award, an honor bestowed upon just one NAPA manufacturer each year in salute of overall excellence, was presented to Balkamp, Incorporated at NAPA's Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas. The "Spirit of NAPA" award is the highest form of recognition conferred upon an NAPA manufacturer. NAPA and Belden: Working Together for 50 Years On May 18, 1932, Henry Lansdale, then NAPA vice president and general manager, wrote to Belden sales manager H.W. Clough: "We are very much pleased over the conclusion of our negotiations with you for a distributing setup for NAPA warehouses on Belden automotive wire and cable, and its adoption as a NAPA line by our board and membership. We are en thusiastic over the sales volume possibilities of the line through NAPA, and we are looking forward to a long, pleasant and successful relationship." The relationship has, in fact, been a successful one: At a special ceremony at the NAPA Annual Meeting, NAPA and Belden celebrated fifty years of joint service to the NAPA jobber and the automotive aftermarket. As with NAPA, quality and service have become a part of the Belden tradition. These two bywords will continue to characterize NAPA and Belden, and in the future, the qualities of professionalism, commitment and loyalty that have marked the NAPA/Belden rela tionship will continue to provide the basis for mutual growth and prosperity.
