Due to conflicting schedules, this meeting will be rescheduled for late July. We will Inform you of the new date shortly. Unclosed please find n Board of Trustees Mumherlup List. If any of the information is incorrect, please contact Jane liall of our office on 202/463-6081. Also enclosed is a Description of the Workers' Institute for Safety and Health. In response to the first Board meeting, last August, the Board has been completed by nominating seven additional members (list attached). They have accepted the nomination, and to expedite our efforts (as well as to limit the number of Board meetings) Jane will be in touch with you for a phone ballot next week. Upon ycur approval, the nominated members will be asked to attend the next Board meeting. I hope this procedure is acceptable to you. "V- In collaboration with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, the Institute's initial project will assist workers who have a high risk of cancer because of past exposure to cancer-causing agents such as beta- Naphthylamine and asbestos. Scientific Advisory Committee : -r-rr did Friurvi PPG FILES To ensure the utmost scientific quality in its programs of research anc development, WISH is establishing a Scientific Advisory Committee to evaluat* the design and execution of programs. Members of the Scientific Advisory Cor mittee will include outstanding scientists in the fields of occupational and envi onmental health and medicine, community medicine, and labor and health edu cation. Professor Irving J, Selikoff, Director of the Environmental Sciences Laboratory, Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, has accepted tc serve as chairman of this committee. Other leading scientists will be appoint in the near future. Facilities Facilities for the project are being provided by WISH in its secretaria in Columbus,, Ohio, and in its satellite office in Washington, D. C. C., called and said that you are a member of the Board of Trustees. They had one meeting last year in August. Mr. Ringen her boss is trying to schedule another meeting for the Board on June 6th, Washington, D. C. in their building at 1126 - 16th Street, N.W., Room 100, to be held in Carey Board Room, 7th floor , beginning at 10 A.M. I told her you were in negotiations and that in all probability you would be unable to attend. She will be sending me some literature on this and if we decide to send some one she said I should call her at the following number: 202-463-6081. Florence Thursday, May 22, 1980 Miss Hall called today and said that the above meeting was canceled, but they would like to know what dates would be convenient for you to attend a one day meeting in Washington, Dates to consider are as follows: July 15, 16, 17, 18, or Monday, July 21, 22 and 23rd Sent Parker the above note along with the notice of new meeting to be scheduled. 5/22/80 F.E.
