The memo from chief of staff Ryan Jackson lists 45 political appointees across EPA's various offices. Missing from the list is J.P. Freire, formerly the associate administrator for public affairs. That spot is filled on the list in an acting capacity by Liz Bowman, formerly Freire's deputy. Neither Freire nor EPA immediately returned questions about Freire's apparent departure. Of the eight new names, the highest-ranking is Erik Baptist, the senior deputy general counsel. Baptist was an attorney with the American Petroleum Institute since 2011. Before that, he was an attorney for FERC for two years and an associate at the law firm McDermott Will & Emery, according to his Linkedln profile. Other previously unreported names on the list include: -- Veronica Darwin, senior adviser for Land and Emergency Management -- Preston Cory, special assistant to the deputy associate administrator for intergovernmental relations -- Christian Rodrick, special assistant to the deputy associate administrator for Congressional Relations -- Kristopher Green, special assistant for the Office of the Chief Financial Officer -- James Hewitt, special adviser for Public Affairs -- Will Lovell, policy assistant -- Madeline Morris, executive scheduler Jackson's memo notes that EPA still must name a roster of assistant administrators, jobs that require Senate confirmation, as well as 10 regional administrators, which do not require confirmation. Administrator Scott Pruitt told lawmakers this morning that he hopes to have regional appointees in place soon.
