File: 53*10 5580 Philadelphia plant May 22, 1957 METHYL METHACRYLATE/ALKYD COPOLYMER UNIVERSAL BASES ___________ PHILADELPHIA_________ We have received and evaluated the sample of RC-N-30286, Methyl Methacrylate/Alkyd Copolymer, discussed in your letter of May 1st. It was found that this resin was not as good a wetting agent as RC-3H3* Coconut Oil Resin, especially with organic pigments such as W-328, BON Red. Also the mixtures Showed excessive thixotropy. Additional tests Indicated that RC-N-30286 did not appear to be compatible with RC-305. Due to the limited amount of resin, we were unable to make more exhaustive tests. In order for the resin to have application in the universal type bases we are investigating, it would have to be generally compatible with medium and short oil alkyds, UF, melamine, vinyl, epon and "Luelte11 resins.
