JPH-43-76 As per letter written by the Directors, the Technical Center OSHA Committee will serve as a permanent working committee. The Committee's duties and responsibilities are set forth in the attached sheets. The Committee will meet every second Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a. m. in the East Conference Room. The Technical Center subscribes to the Occupational Safety and Health Reporter, a weekly review of OSHA developments, published by the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. This publication, which also includes a current set of compliance standards, will be circulated to all Committee members. A set of OSHA Standards are available at my office for your reference. In addition, each member will be provided a copy of the current Federal Register of OSHA Standards. The Committee's primary OSHA interest is Part 1910 of Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations (General Industry) of the Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and responsibilities thereof will be subdivided by member as follows: Dr, B. McNair 0 008176 OS HA Committee The Technical Center's Occupational Safety and Health Act Committee is established as a permanent working committee with membership representative of major areas of specialization. The committee's basic responsibility is to identify problems and recommend administrative or engineering controls necessary to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The committee's recommendations will be submitted to the Director of Administration for Management Safety Committee action. More specifically, committee members' responsibilities include: 1. The chairman will assign each member a specific section(s) of the Act which will, to the extent possible, correspond with the member area of specialization. In addition, the chairman will: a. Set up monthly meetings. b. Provide each member copies of all applicable literature, correspondence and bulletins pertaining to the Act. c. Submit the committee's recommendations to the Director of Administration. 2. Initially, each member will determine the compliance status at the Technical Center of the section(s) of the Act that he/she is responsible for. He/she will update compliance status for the Technical Center when: a. Changes in the Occupational Safety and Health Act occur. b. New OSHA standards are proposed. c. An accident occurs because an OSHA standard under his/her jurisdiction was violated. 3. The committee will work closely with the Chemical Company and other plant OSHA committees by exchanging and/or obtaining information. 4. Legal questions relating to the Occupational Safety and Health Act will be forwarded to the Corporate Safety office via the Director of Administration. 5. The committee will act as the Technical Center "clearing house" to assure complete and orderly collection and dissemination of 008177 OS HA Committee Page 2 the myriad of information from all sources on the subject. 6. The committee will provide or arrange for providing counsel and assistance as requested by Technical Center management for compliance to the Act. April 1, 1976 008178
