The process change to delete caustic from the
chlorophenol' still charge has dramatically improved
the formation of dioxins. Still we find "we
think" something which analytically could be the
2,3,7, 8 TCDD in the still residue. Considering .
the known routes of'dioxin formation (i.e.
condensation or chlorination of lower dioxins)
it seems to say we are forming the 2,3/7,8
by the latter route.
_______________
In all of our analyses we do not quantify anywhere
the unchlorinated dioxin. Could this material be
in the phenol recycle' strean w h ich goes b a c k to
the c h lorinatorT^&xrice \Te presently have"more'
demand-torlTthe^fractions than we have material
available, it would be a simple solution to eliminate
recycle and sell the excess fractions. Can we
test this theory?
