MINUTES of the GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL Sc RESEARCH COMMITTEE MEETING Joint Session NATIONAL INSULATION MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION Washington, D, C. December 4, 1962 The meeting was called to order at 1:45 P, M* The following subjects were discussed: 1. NIMA PROPOSED STANDARD Mr, Barnhart informed those present that NIMA was working on a proposed standard relating to inorganic thermal insulation. 2. PROPOSED REVISIONS TO MINERAL FIBER SPECIFICATIONS -* \ Mr# Barnhart distributed copies of proposed classifications c mineral fiber products for comments# and explained that NIMA has been working on revisions to Federal Specifications for Mineral Fiber Products (rock# slag and glass)# Following discussion it was agreed that NIMA would 3cnd to C*SA these proposed revisions by January 30, 1963# 3. PACKAGING REQUIREMENTS IN SPECIFICATIONS Mr* Barnhart asked the agencies present if something could be done to alleviate some of the packaging requirements appearing in government specifications, and suggested that the NIMA Packaging Committee and government representatives meet for the purpose of discussing this subject. It was pointed out that the Packaging Board c the Defense Department works on this subject continuously. Mr* Burt Tower is to investigate the procedure to contact the Defense Department on thi3 subject and advise NIMA.
