To: Hupp, Sydney[hupp.sydney@epa.gov] Cc: Hale, Michelle[hale.michelle@epa.gov]; Woodward, Cheryl[Woodward.Cheryl@epa.gov] From: Thomas Hebert Sent: Tue 3/28/2017 3:16:23 PM Subject: Invitation to Administrator Pruitt to Offer a Keynote Address to the Nation's Egg Producers in DC on May 17, 18 or 19, 2017 doc20170324144145.pdf Dear Ms. Hupp, I hope you are well and settling in nicely at EPA. Please see attached a letter inviting the Administrator to offer a keynote address to the nation's egg producers at a meeting being held by United Egg Producers (UEP) here in Washington, D.C. on May 17, 18 or 19, 2017. Details are included in the letter. UEP's farmer members raise hens that produce about 95% of the nation's eggs, and most of that egg production will be accounted for by the 150 or so egg producers in the audience listening to Administrator Pruitt's address should he decide to do this. These producers and UEP have been at the forefront of several US EPA rulemakings and policies that are central to how farmers operate today; Clean Water Act matters involving the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) rule, WOTUS rule and the Chesapeake Bay TMDL as well as Clean Air Act and CERCLA/EPRCA matters as they relate to ammonia and other air emissions. These are tremendously important issues that relate directly to how egg producers can continue to proudly meet their environmental responsibilities and the growing demand for eggs, and in general make their contribution to the nation's safe, wholesome and abundant food supply. These farmers would appreciate hearing about Administrator Pruitt's plans for US EPA's environmental programs so they can better understand how they could contribute to the success of his efforts and what these plans might mean for their farms and businesses. Please let me know if you have any questions or if the Administrator can accept this invitation. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request. Best! 17cv1906 Sierra Club v. Washington, D.C. 20460 Dear Mr. Administrator: In May, members of United Egg Producers from across the United States will gather in Washington May 17-19 for their annual legislative meeting. UEP is the voice of egg farmers, and our members produce and independently market more than 90% of all eggs in the United States. Farmers will take this opportunity to speak with their own elected officials about developments in our industry as well as legislative and regulatory issues that are priorities for family-owned farms. Both producers and processors of eggs will attend. The purpose of this letter is to invite you to be a keynote speaker during our meetings, which will be conveniently held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Avenue, N.W. We would be honored by your perspectives on environmental issues and regulations as they affect agriculture, including the Waters of the United States rule and other timely topics that you feel would be important for our group. We anticipate approximately 150 attendees for your address. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule, but we have several time slots already set aside for speakers. The best times from our standpoint would be Wednesday, May 17, anytime between 1 and 2:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 18, anytime between 2:30 and 5 p.m.; or Friday, May 19, anytime between 8 and 11 a.m. We will follow up with your staff in the near future to see whether you will be able to speak to our group. Thank you in advance for your consideration of our request.
