Lindbergh Boulevard St. Louis, Missouri 63166 Subject: Overrun on Dow Chemical Company Work Dear Dr. Roush: Approval is requested for payment of $34,090.45 to Dow for an overrun on mutagenesis and teratogenesis studies with vinyl chloride (VC) conducted under MCA administration. Sufficient funds are available, having already been raised for these studies during 1974 and 1975. Initial studies, costing $70,000, were conducted during 1974. Dow continued these efforts and later the VC Technical Panel recommended additional financial support to the extent of $120,000. Management contacts concurred and made available $150,000 for that purpose as well as administrative costs and contingencies. A check for $120,000 has been sent to Dow. At a recent meeting, the Technical Panel approved initial versions of some of the final reports for the research in ques tion, now essentially complete, and recommended payment of the overrun. Dow plans to pursue a lead obtained (identification of a metabolite) at their own expense. Please complete the attached form on the request outlined above and send one copy to me by October 15, 1975.
