Peters - Below Group Installation - BTL Subject: Fiber-Cement Conduit It has been brought to our attention by the C&P Co. that our BSP's do not address adequate safequard information on Fiber-Cement Conduit. This conduit is composed of a mixture of asbestos fiber and Portland cement. The conduit is only recommended for special applications (high temperatures) in BSP 919-240-200 issue 3, which will preclude any extensive Bell System use. However, since we do cover the installation and maintenance of this conduit in the construction practices, we believe it would be appropriate to add a pre cautionary statement to those practices. The precaution could read: Fiber-Cement Conduit contains aspestos fiber fillers. When doing any type of cutting or abrading the area of the conduit involved should be wetted down with water.
