Defra 2023 Industry Survey
Why An Industry Survey
Defra has to set a phasedown schedule
This needs to
Be tailored to the GB market while recognising interdependencies Be technically and economically feasible Allow adequate gas for important uses such as the heat pump rollout
while providing sufficient regulatory certainty to make investments
Any decision we make has to be evidence-based

What We Need To Know
We have identified the most significant differences in assumptions between current modelling and ko Recherche modelling
These are
Commercial Refrigeration (7.5kW to 20kW) Industrial DX (20kW - 100kW) Residential Heat Pumps (including air to air, <12kW) Small VRF Systems (~ 50kW)
We need industry input to fill in the gaps

What We're Asking
One to one discussions with industry have helped us to identify what technologies are feasible and over what time period.
We would like to know what alternative options cost including
Equipment cost Installation cost Energy/carbon cost (based on COP) Lifetime costs (e.g. maintenance)
Evidence does not need to be a point estimate. Ranges may be preferable. There will be an opportunity to enter either or both.
