ALIZARINE REDS AND MAROONS
Alizarins Reds are made by the precipitation of alizarine dyestuffs on a nixed base inert. They pos sess fair covering power, excellent light and alkali resistance, and good heat and acid resistance. They are suitable for lacquer as well as for paint and enamel purposes as they are non-bleeding in varnish, water, paraffin, coal tar thlnners, and alcohol (except 88 C 9 which bleeds in alcohol). Baking is satisfactory at 230F. Alizarine Reds are also used in resin and water esulslon paints.
In special tests. Alizarine Rad 88 C 9 in full shade proved to have fair resistance to bleaching solu tions such as Clorox.

PYROLUX MAROON
Pyrolux Maroon is a calcium salt of Heliofast Rubine FF, a sulfonated anthraquinone dye, laked with aluainua hydrate. It has good resistance to discoloration due to heat and very good permanence.

Sane shade range and considerably brighter than Permachrom Maroon 8716 or Plastleone Maroon 10458. About the same strength as Alizarine Maroon 8805, but considerably yellower and brighter. Good resistance to heat and light in full shade or tint. Suggested as a Rhodamlne substitute used with Polaris Red. See Technical Bulletin C-59.

They have fair covering, excellent light and alkali resistance and good heat and acid resistance. They are essentially non-bleeding except 88 C 9 which bleeds in alcohol. Baking is satisfactory at 230F.
88 C 9 Typical light maroon shade; unsuitable for lacquers; CP Dept, indicates that 88 C 9 and 8800 are now equivalent and the latter is the preferred assignment.
8800 Standard light maroon; non-bleed, same shade and 88 C 9.
8805 Dark maroon shade.
