As you can see, they are all essentially normal with the exception of Aucoin, and even his reduction in F.E.V.-l was quite slight. As you can also &ee, doing the additional studies did not con tribute any additional significant information. So, I think the two figures would be entirely adequate for your purposes. An F.E.V.-l of 3000 cc. or 69fo of predicted normal is hardly the kind of figure that would necessitate taking a man off a job. I do think that it would be prudent to repeat it annually just for your own protection. If you are going to be doing many of these and considering getting your own equipment, I'll be glad to show you the Jones machine that I use, but the secret of good tests is a good technician, and Mrs. Meiers will happily demonstrate to one of your people how to do it properly if you elect to do so. D If more sophisticated determinations are desired, there is some enthusiasm currently about a calculation called "Closing Volume" in which the expiratory flow is plotted at volumes instead of time, and this is said to pick up early impairment long before any other technique will do so.
