At the same time, there will be representatives who will be planning to attend only one of the Conferences. This memo is simply to announce these Conferences early enough for you to plan your schedules accordingly. Agendas will be provided later and independently by Mr. E. E. Rumberger for Industrial Hygiene; and Mr. Rolf Rolles for the Chief Chemists Meeting for Metals Plants. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn, New Kensington, PA, north of Pittsburgh, and near to the Alcoa Technical Center where the Conferences will be held. Elle Sasinoski (Pittsburgh Office/Ext. 2116) will coordinate plans for those attending the Industrial Hygiene Conference; Kathy Minik (ATC/Ext. 2169) will coordinate for those attending the Chief Chemists Conference. If you will be attending both meetings, please follow this procedure: 1. Contact Elle Sasinoski, in writing 2. Copy Kathy Minik Please confirm your plans to attend as soon as possible -- and no later than March 21. Additional information will be released within the next few weeks. For those involved with Industrial Hygiene responsibilities -- you may want to consider a Respirator Seminar sponsored by The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) in Dallas, TX, 1980 April 22-23-24 (the week prior to the Alcoa I.H. Conference). Those desiring to attend in conjunction with the two captioned Conferences should notify either Mr. Rumberger or Elle Sasinoski as soon as possible in order to meet the registration deadline (see attachment) -- and no later than March 07. Seymour - Pgh. 23 ARCH 19599 "UNDERSTANDING RESPIRATORY PROTECTION" A three day course, developed to provide health and safety personnel with the knowledge and skill to meet the requirements for establishing a minimally acceptable respirator program. Course attendees will obtain a working understanding of the applicable Occupational Health & Safety Standards and gain insight into their interpretation and implementa tion. Students will become familiar with all types of respiratory protective devices and their functional charac teristics. Each attendee will receive "hands-on" experience in qualitative and quantitative fit testing procedures. This course includes a six unit home study section. Each prospective attendee is expected to complete it before he or she attends the course. Therefore, one should register for the course at least 60 days before it is scheduled for presentation.
