Production was notified on 4/27/71 of the apparent trends on the following type resins:
Resin Type 384
Bulk density and +80 screen to the low side.
385 Bulk density and brabender to the
low side. Relative viscosity and +80 screen slightly low.
314 Bulk density, +100 screen and bra bender to the low side.
315 Bulk density and brabender to the
low side. Relative viscosity and +100 screen slightly low.
389
Relative viscosity and +80 screen to the high side. Brabender to the low side.
250-12
Dry blend to the low side. Relative viscosity slightly low. Gels to the high side.
225/16R
Dry blend not in good control (scat tered throughout spec range). Gels slightly high.
250 Dry blend to the low side. Relative viscosity slightly high.
0565
Relative and Brookfield viscosities
to the low side. Severs viscosity to the high side.
1730
Brookfield and Severs viscosities to the high side.
1755
Severs viscosity to the high side.
During the reporting period, a quick GC method to assure that sam
ples of monomer cars contain MVC was developed by the Analytical Control Group, and1 has been issued as a standard QC test. The
method has been instituted, and all technicians will be trained by
4/50/71.

New methods for determining and reporting clarity on Dispersion resin were discussed, and some possible standards were reviewed with CSL in an attempt to characterize clarity, haze and grain iness in the films. A new procedure for reporting their values will be initiated in the near future. In a further attempt to assist CSL in characterizing clarity in additive type resins, a new procedure for reporting Hegman values on AR901 resin will be initiated soon. Initially, we will attempt to report Hegman values at an approximate pound level through the lot. For example, at 1,000 pounds produced, Hegman value 6 and at 2,000 pounds produced, Hegman value 5* etc. A new testing frequency for BR521 has been started. The testing will be once per day between 8:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. for Brook field, Severs and particle size. Brookfield and Severs will be averaged for the lot as In Dispersion resin lots.
