Special Projects' demands for staff services have increased considerably. in order to provide timely services and reduce the work load of each Project Administrator to a manageable level, the Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA) has recently added to its staff Carol R. Stack, Ph.D. I fully agree wTith you that vinyl chloride is not a dead or dying issue and this project will have considerable activity for a long time. Joe is currently working on-' acrylonitrile, ethylene cibromide, phosgene, titanium dioxide, trichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride. Evaluation of the existing work load forces me to conclude that trans ferring the vinyl chloride project from Joe to Carol is the only solution for reducing Joe's work load to a more manageable level. I have discussed the issue of work load leveling with Joe during the last two weeks and informed him this morning of my decision to transfer the vinyl chloride project to Carol. We at CMA have a high regard for Joe and I want to assure you that CMA will make every effort to make this transition a smooth one ever the next several months. Carol is currently working on the benzene, chlorobenzenes, styrene, and rubber additives projects, and is now very familiar with CMA and panel procedures. Her biographical sketch is enclosed with this letter. Joe, however, will be available in an advisory capacity to the project after the transition. Dr. Stack joined the CMA staff on Eebruary 1/ 1980 as a project administrator currently responsible for benzene, styrene, and chlorobenzenes. Dr. Stack received a Ph.D. in Biology from New York University in 1969. Her graduate research centered on histological and histochemical studies of internal auditory systems. Before joining CMA, she was a 3iolocist in the Toxicology and Biomedical Sciences Department at Equitable Environmental Health where she served as an Assistant Project Director responsible for the preparation of NIOSH multi-chemical criteria documents. Her duties included a review and evaluation of all literature pertinent to the study, preparation of the text, and defense of the contents. She also conducted "site visits at plants involved in the manufacture and use of these chemicals. Carol is looking forwarc to meeting with you in the near future.
