Hose, about 1 0 ' in all cut into a number of small sections. Two sections, which from odor were supposed to contain highest concen tration of T.E.L. were examined.
24 liters of air (10,! section of hose) yielded 0.075 mgs. or 0.084 mg. per foot section, equal to 0.0035 mgs./liter/ foot section, equal to 35 mgs. Pb/ 10 cu. Li./foot section.
10 gram portion of nose was steam di stilled and analyses made for steam distillable and inorganic lead.
Organic Pb (steam distillable) = 1.50 mgs. = 0.015;
Inorganic Pb (resi.due after (distillation)
= 1.00 mg. = 0.010
