RE: My Brother's recent death from Methylene Chloride
Attachments: Paint thinner and PPE.jpg; IMG_0198.jpg
Hello Nancy,
Ana and Doug are tracking this, I thought you should as well. My brother died do to exposure from a chemical that you protect "Methylene Chloride". They say that Methylene chloride is a one-two punch when fumes accumulate, well that is 100% correct. My brother slumped over, no longer breathing, because the respiratory centers of his brain switched off and the chemical turned into Carbon Monoxide in his body which also starved his heart of oxygen. He was found dead on a cold floor surrounded by a puddle of blood (from falling over). You should know that his level of exposure was so high that we couldn't donate his organs and that they had to wear respirators during his autopsy.
There is no reason to shelf the NMP rule and there is no need for "long term action". The chemical kills, there are alternatives available. Have a soul and prevent this from happening again. If you care, read the details below.
V/R,
Brian Wynne

Hello Douglas,
My name is Brian Wynne, I am writing to follow up on a message sent to you by a family friend of ours from Methylene Chloride toxic fumes. To
help clarify and remove the "alleged" from the subject "Death from Goof Off Product", I thought I would go ahead and share the cause of death as determined by the Charleston Co. Coroner (autopsy conducted on 10/16/17 at 12:45pm). Sidebar the autopsy was delayed to to a need to decontaminate my brothers body. Below is a link to his obituary and after that is the COD from the coroner.
Drew was a 31 yr old small business owner that died working hour number 59 of his regular 60 hour week. He was found a day after he died and it took the Hazmat team 2 hrs to recover his body from the building. The fumes were so strong that chemical detectors were having positive hits outside of the facility. I can go on into specific details (blood, smell, cleanup) but it wouldn't be worth it.

He bought poorly labeled poison and was sold an inadequate breathing apparatus at Lowes. He was blissfully unaware of the danger he faced when he walked out of that store and started working at his coffee plant.

"In light of historical information and the toxicological, gross and microscopic autopsy findings, it is in the opinion of the pathologist that the decedent died as the result of acute dichloromethane and methanol toxicity. Furthermore, the manner of death is best deemed accident. "
Toxic Fumes (paint thinner/methylene chloride/methanol exposure).
Acute dichloromethane and methanol toxicity
Peripheral blood toxicology: dichloromethane = 77 mcg/ml, methanol = 25 mg/dl History of exposure to paint thinner fumes in a poorly ventilated enclosed space
Attached is a picture of the paint thinner aisle at Lowe's. Can you find the product that kills more effectively than the department of corrections?
Everything on the left side of the shelf will kill you, nothing on the right will save you. I'm not interested in debating EPA positions, I'm following up to provide the additional details that were requested.
