Reinhardt, Chairman SUBJECT: REPORT ON STATUS OF ORGANIZATION OF NEW ANSI COMMITTEE, C107 ________________ Gentlemen: ATTACHMENT #1 contains the rather good responses, so far, to the May 1, 1971 letter (copy of which is enclosed), requesting representation and announcing tentative plans for an Organization meeting in June. ATTACHMENT #2 lists the several important or ganizations that have not accepted as yet. Your attention is directed to the ASTM response and NEMA's answer, both of which are attached as ATTACHMENT #3. Although I, of course, cannot speak for the other Standards Organizations, I would anticipate that they would look at the scope question in somewhat the same way as referred to in ATTACHMENT 13. You may also be interested in the fact that the ASTM recently increased its scope from its historically-known and accepted scope, as outlined in the attached article, from the November, 1970 issue of ASTM*18 Materials Research and Standards Magazine (ATTACHMENT #4). I understand that the new scope was approved at the January 19, 1971 special meeting of the ASTM, but I was unable to locate any speci fic information, other than that contained in the article. In view of the other needed important responses, listed in ATTACHMENT #2, I would feel that we will not be able to meet the June deadline for an Organization Meeting. it almost apoears to me that it may be necessary to postpone this until August or Septem ber, because of vacation periods. All members are requested to provide their comments to the Chairman in this and any other respects, as soon as possible, Cont'd NPC00016297 207983 so that he can consolidate any further plan for completing this e activity. As is the usual procedure, copies of all comments should be sent to all othar members and the Secretary. Since A. K. Salazar, Executive Secretary AMSrdk Power Equipment Division ATT: CC: P.G.
