Philadelphia Pa Dear Sirs Re Asbestos Insulating Block Castable Trowel and Gunning Mix You are probably aware that asbestos in insulating materials has become a controversial subject as to how it affects the health of individuals exposed to it The OSHA requirement of 5 fibers per cubic centimeter is so restrictive that it essentially prohibits the use of asbestos in insulating materials regardless of the amount of asbestos in the product The dialogue about asbestos has been going on for a number of years and an awareness of the health hazards finally resulted in the OSHA standards possible In 1970 the Quigley Company embarked on a development program to eliminate asbestos from our insulating products This development program resulted in a 1800 insulating material Panelex which is completely free of asbestos has a total chloride content of 10 ppm mix and is available as a castable block trowel and gunning Since its official introduction into the market in February 1972 Panelex has proven itself to be a high quality safe to use insulating material In order to cover the possible objections which may be raised concerning the possible effects on an individual's health we solicited from OSHA itself an opinion as to its effects on health We are that OSHA has given us a clean bill of health and we Panelex as a nuisance dust happy to report are classifying A Subsidiary of PFIZER INC 19 19 09 0992 Philadelphia Electric September 12 1972 Page 2 Co. pa For your information I am including technical data sheets Panelex Block and Panelex P on Panelex data sheet Troweling grade along with an OSHA It is hoped that the above will be sufficient to allow us to bring our materials into your facilities for evaluation In the meantime signed can be of if Mr. Kelly our District Sales Manager any service in any way please feel free to or the undercall upon us Very truly yours Marino J.
