E a rly in the summer t h i s company s t a r t e d p u rc h a sin g Supertemp in la rg e q u a n ti t ie s and s h o rtly t h e r e a f t e r they had a com plaint from one o f t h e i r workmen t h a t th e m a te ria l was i r r i t a t i n g him around h is neck and on h is w r i s t s . Upon thorough i n v e s tig a tio n th ey found th a t out o f a crew o f approxim ately Uo men th a t seven o f them had some i r r i t a t i o n . One o f th e se workmen (I was not a b le to get h is name) brought up th e argument th a t the Asbestos-W orkers Local a t Houston had placed a ban on a l l g la s s , m ineral and rock w ools, and th a t ere they were being u sed th e men were re c e iv in g added com pensation f o r making the a p p lic a t io n . We c o n c lu siv e ly proved th a t t h i s was in e r r o r . The ban has been p la c e d on g la s s w ool, w ith which you a re f u l l y f a m i li a r , b u t i t has only reached the conversational stage regarding m ineral and rock wools. We have taken s te p s a t t h i s tim e to g e t a l e t t e r from the S e c re ta ry and B u sin e ss Agent o f th e Houston Local to th e e f f e c t t h a t th e re are no o b je c tio n s in any way w hatsoever to t h e i r membership applying any and a l l o f B agle-Picher* s i n s u la tin g m a t e r i a ls . As soon as I g e t t h i s l e t t e r i t w ill be forwarded to you prom ptly. Mr. W ilder was q u ite concerned about th e chem ical a n a ly s is o f our Super temp b lo ck and wanted to know i f th e r e was any danger o f an a p p lic a to r contracting eilicoeia. I advised him that we would promptly furnish him a re p o rt from a re p u ta b le d o cto r or m edical o rg a n iz a tio n in regard to th is . T h e ir o th e r main o b je c tio n was th e e x c e ssiv e amount o f dust on th e blocks upon t h e i r r e c e ip t a t th e job s i t e .
