Mr. p a s t h i s t o r y shows t h a t while working a t the Timken
B o i l e r B e a rin g Company, i n C anton, he d e v e lo p e d p a i n and numbness of
both f e e t - the l e f t one being mors pronounced th an the r i g h t , u lc e r s
o f both lim bs and a n k le s and numbness of th e arms and hands. The
tro u b le becoming more alarm ing, a f t e r docto rin g ^ ^ t ^ r n y s i c i a n s in
Canton, P itts b u rg h , and o th e r nearby c i t i e s ,
was -
o b lig e d , i n 1928, to q u i t h i s work and went t o I h r a H o s p o t a l , D e t r o i t ,
fo r exam ination and tre a tm e n t. They diagnosed th e tro u b le as lead
p o is o n in g , a s was a ls o th e d i a g n o s is of o th e r p h y s i c i a n s .
H is t r o u b le became more s e r i o u s a s i time went on and in 1932, w ith
g a n g r e n e i n t h e g r e a t t o e o f h i s BIGHT f o o t , was a d v i s e d by a P i t t s b u r g h p h y s i c i a n , t o go t o Mayo C l i n i c where he was g i v e n t r e a t ment and a lum bar sympathectomy p e rf o r m e d on him. I n 1933, he was g^ven f u r t h e r tre a tm e n t f o r limbs and hands, and a c u rv i o a l sympa t h e c t o m y was p e r f o r m e d . Due t o c o n t i n u e d e x tr e m e p a i n and g an g ren o u s u l c e r s , i t was found n e c e s s a r y to am putate h i s l e f t limb, ab o u t f i v e or s i x in ch e s below the knee, on June 23th 1934.
S in c e t h a t tim e th e r i g h t f o o t and limb have become in v o lv e d ana
a f t e r e x a m i n a t i o n a t t h e Mayo C l i n i c Ju n e 9 t h and 1 0 t h , a m p u t a t i o n o f t h e r i g h t f o o t was advise.:,.

boay inasmuch as h i s hands and arms and e n t i r e system seem to be
affected.

The c i r c u l a t o r y system b e in g a s i t i s , t h e p a i n i s more s e v e r e t h a n in o r d i n a r y a m p u t a t i o n s and h e a l i n g i s d i f f i c u l t . D e g e n e ra tio n o f b lo o d v e s s e l s of t h i s f o o t i s the same as in the le f t foot.
