PFBE Mass Balance for PTFE Manufacture at AGCCE
Due to the small amounts of PFBE used in the PTFE grades, and that it is mostly consumed by polymerisation, this mass balance is based on process knowledge rather than analytical data and the values presented should be taken as indicative values.
Polymerised in to polymer (note 1) Destroyed by incineration (note 2)
Emitted to atmosphere (note 3)
Amount of PFBE* /kg per year
2019 59 3.0 0.16
2020 49 2.5 0.13
2021 80 4.0 0.21
* Note a separate PFBE mass balance willl be produced for PFBE used in the ETFE polymerisation process.
Note 1 Note 2 Note 3
Assumes 95 % is polymerised in to polymer Assumes 95 % of residual PFBE remaining in the A/C at the end of the batch is purged to GH (and then on to incineration) Assumes 5 % of residual PFBE remaining in the A/C at the end of the batch is released to atmosphere
