I think legislators, especially, should hear the industry side of this phase of the asbestos story. I have enclosed a copy of my 12/75 paper for the JPT with the "public environment" section circled. I have always been impressed by the fact that, as I understand it, the Quebec asbestos miners have a lower incidence of lung cancer than the general population in Montreal. If true, perhaps this is another point to make. Is there any way to establish the actual number of deaths per year due to asbestos exposure? I found the attached table in my files, but it only covers asbestosis for 1960-1967. It would be good information if we knew something about trends based on actual data rather than speculations by NIOSH, EPA, OSHA, etc. I think the "Asbestos Issue" idea is a good one and commend J-M for the work already expended on it.
