There is apparently no single method which can give percent asbestos of total fibers, although certain skilled operators can differ entiate fibers such as manmade, glass, and ceramic from asbestos. The only conclusive method is Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) with electron diffraction plus elemental analysis. The McCrone Institute in Chicago does this for $500/sample. 2. Method Development. I will be working on timing and funding of method development for the alcohols, isobutylene, and propylene we discussed. 3. Method Numbers. I have reviewed the list of compounds you gave me for method numbers.
