EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt spent more than $14,000 on a previously undisclosed flight in Oklahoma, CBS News reported tonight.
Pruitt took the eight-seat LearJet from Tusia to Guymon, Okla., because commercial flights were not available and it would have otherwise been a five-hour drive, an EPA spokesman told CBS. He then flew to Oklahoma City after an event on water policy in Guymon. The plane was chartered by the Interior Department.
Pruitt also flew on an Air Force plane from Cincinnati to New York and onto Andrews Air Force Base to catch a connecting flight to Italy for a G-7 meeting. The total price tag for those flights was $36,069.50, according to CBS. And he took a charter flight between Denver and Durango, Colo., in August, at a cost of more than $5,700, according to CBS.
Pruitt has spent $58,219.19 on non-commercial flights, CBS reported, citing information EPA shared with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.L).
In addition, Pruitt flew on a North Dakota state government plane for an Aug. 9 event at the University of North Dakota's Environmental Research Center, at a cost to taxpayers of $2,144.40, according to CBS.
"Administrator Pruitt took one charter flight and three government flights," said spokesperson Liz Bowman.
