BAH/MLD J* Vad<lllt Ssq*, Turner Brother* Aebeetoe Co* Ltd Roohdale* JEM/DMH 29th fetrutry I960* Dear Mr* Waddell, The Wow Shipbuilding Regulation* We have recently received fro* the Ministry of y^fc"**** a fresh statutory draft of these Regulations, which, It appears, oannot yet be treated as being necessarily in final fora slnee, in a covering letter, the Ministry advise us of the proosdurs to be followed in raising any further points in connection with the present draft* X an enclosing a copy of the revised draft with this letter* Tbu will recall fron the earlier eorrespondenoe with both Mr* Collin's- and Mr* Jones.that ve were generally satisfied with the fora and wording of the. 1959 draft so far as it would affeet Croup Companies, and it was then agreed that there were no further matters which -were really worth taking up with the Ministry* X think X can say that the position remains the same as regards the new draft* The Regulations with which we were specially concerned (referring to asbestos), l*e Regulations 73 74, are now reproduced in exactly similar terms as Mos76 77, We were also watching the previous Regulation 50, relating to the reaoval of dust and fumes, but here it was decided to raise no objection* The Regulation is now reproduced as Regulation 53 and refers to "any process oarried on on board, in or on the outside of a vessel or part of. a vessel" as opposed to the previous reference to "any process oarried on In or on board a vessel"* The Regulation is otherwise the same as before and X think you will agree that the present change is not material from our Companies* point of view* The main alterations in this revised copy ocour in Regulations 2 and 4 (allocation of responsibilities under the code) and in Part V by the insertion of new Regulations numbered 49, 0 and 51, concerning precautions against dangerous fumes* As regards the former no great ohanges are involved, and as to the latter they do not seem to be matters with which we are really actively concerned* Except, that is, in the context possibly of Polyurethane foams, and X should be glad if you would consider this problem generally since it is one that hae only begun to concern us following publication of the last draft of the Regulations* Ccntd J.
